DMCI Raises Four 120-MT Steel Box Girders for NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project with WRCP Provided Heavy Lifting Gears

NLEX Connector Girder

WRCP along with DMCI and NLEX Corporation lifts four prefabricated 120-Metric Tons steel box girder with a span of 60 meters is installed above the LRT Line 1 Blumentritt Station last March 3-5, 2022. The complex lift requires four pieces of 57mm wire rope slings with a working load limit of 36.0 tons on a straight vertical lift.

The lifting procedure require four wire rope slings that will be attached to the double hook block and will haul up from Pier 95 to Pier 96, which is above the LRT-1 Blumentritt Station.

NLEX Connector Girder

The elevated route would cut travel time from SLEX to NLEX to just 20 minutes once it is done, it is projected to benefit at least 35,000 cars and vehicles every day. Travel time from Clark to Calamba will be reduced from about 3 hours to 1 hour and 40 minutes by using the four-lane toll road.

The NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project, estimated to cost P23.2 billion, began construction in May 2019. It is expected to be open by the third quarter of 2023.
